Job description
LG2 is looking for an English Copy Editor and Translator to join its Montreal office. The successful candidate will carry out unilingual and comparative revisions of marketing communications and adapt or translate a variety of documents from French to English. They’ll coordinate necessary follow-ups with the agency’s internal resources and ensure an open and constructive dialogue with all parties involved in a given project. Adaptability, sound judgment and critical thinking are essential qualities for this role, which requires juggling priorities and tight deadlines, all while working with new technologies.
Responsibilities
Proofread marketing communications in English, ensuring they adhere to a brand’s vocabulary and tone of voice (unilingual and comparative proofreading).
Translate and adapt various documents from French to English.
Identify any unnatural influence of French in English texts.
Preserve the style and tone of voice of each brand during editing and translation.
Translate and adapt administrative texts, press releases and internal communications.
Carry out necessary follow-ups with internal resources (copywriters, art directors, account directors, etc.).
Maintain an open and constructive dialogue with colleagues when making writing proposals and recommendations.
Ensure proofreading and translation tools are up to date and tailored to the agency’s needs.
Stay on top of project priorities and adapt quickly to changes.
Ideal profile
Native-level English and a thorough understanding of French.
A detailed and passionate knowledge of English grammar and spelling rules.
A clear and concise writing style, and the ability to create eye-catching headlines.
Knowledge of Quebec French and its unique vocabulary.
A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
A passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of linguistic trends (such as inclusive writing and language evolution).
An aptitude for discussing grammatical and semantic nuances.
An interest in process optimization and service improvement.
Excellent stress management and prioritization skills.
