Job description

LG2 Toronto is looking for a seasoned Production Designer to joint the Creative Production Services team. This person is a key member of the team, collaborating with art directors and designers to transform concepts into production-ready files across multiple mediums. In this design-forward agency role, you will lead the execution of packaging, digital documents, and high-impact advertising. As a master of typography, layout, and 2D animation, you act as the primary technical expert and mentor for the studio team.

Responsibilities

  • Production Leadership: Build production-ready files for diverse campaigns, including OOH/DOOH, packaging, 2D animation, and digital ads (Static/HTML5).

  • Workflow Oversight: Lead bi-weekly studio meetings and manage project health by tracking hours and status for the Director, Creative Production Services.

  • Quality Control: Take full ownership of assigned jobs, ensuring meticulous file building, version control, and strict adherence to client brand standards.

  • Technical Excellence: Implement AODA/WCAG accessibility standards and perform high-end image retouching and color correction.

  • Studio Mentorship: Promote best practices and lead "Studio 101" sessions to educate other departments on production processes.

  • Asset Management: Maintain organized folder structures, file naming nomenclature, and centralized feedback platforms for all projects.

  • Physical & Digital Prototyping: Create physical mock-ups (packaging, brochures) and manage the Epson/Fiery RIP system and color profiles.

  • Process Documentation: Manage and update the Studio Playbook with key learnings, technical tips, and evolving production know-how.

Ideal Profile

  • Expert Software Knowledge: Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) plus Figma, Hype, and Generative AI tools.

  • Leadership & Empathy: A mentor who leads by example, providing constructive feedback while keeping the team motivated and composed.

  • Typographic Mastery: An elite eye for typography, layout principles, color theory, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Production Expertise: Deep experience in all printing methods, social media specifications, and physical collateral assembly.

  • Project Management Foundation: Highly organized, responsible, and capable of visualizing complex projects from start to finish.

  • Brand Stewardship: Ability to take the reins on brand standards, ensuring consistency across all mechanicals and platforms.

  • Technical Curiosity: Proactive in finding new software and workflow tools to improve department efficiency.

  • Strong Communication: Excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to act decisively in fast-paced situations.
